Cockspur handles lock by means of a small arm, or nose, which locks over or into the window frame – usually onto/into a plastic wedge or receiver fitted to the frame. The most important piece of information to know when replacing a cockspur handle is the “stack height”. This is the measurement from the base of the handle to the underside of the arm, or “nose”.
It’s also a good idea to check how many fixing screw holes there are, and the distances between the holes. Try to match these as closely to the replacement handle as possible.
Finally, check if you need left or right-handed handles.
