What is an Espagnolette lock or Espag lock?
This is a one-piece lock that fits to the inside edge of a casement window. The mechanical part of the espag lock runs up the vertical length of the window frame and is operated by a handle. The rod is fitted with 2 or 3 pins known as ‘cams’ which lock into receivers on the window frame.
Espags have different types of faceplates and these can also be of different widths. The main types being Inline/flat, Offset/flat and Offset/U-rail.
Make sure to check the backset size also, as shown:
Most espags use ‘mushroom’ cams, but some espags also have the option for ‘Roller’ cams
